This year, our plan is grow more of the flowers that we use the most. Whilst the walled garden is perfect for creating smaller numbers of more unusual flowers, we wanted to grow a lot more flowers such as carnations, chrysanthemums, scabiosa’s, cornflowers, limoniums, zinnia’s and gypsophilia - and many more. As such, we are starting to clear some more land so that we can sow our seeds in the next couple of months. Will be a busy few months but hopefully it will be worth it!
Its September which means the arrival of bulbs for our spring flowers. This year we have a wide selection of tulips to grow. These include a number of historical tulips that are rarely available. Back in the 18th and 19th century, tulips were very popular and exclusive. They were a sign of wealth and some bulbs would sell for the same price as a house! We are pleased to announce that we will open our workshop on Sunday 9th September 2018 in Great Staughton, Cambridgeshire. As part of our opening day, we will be running an all day workshop to 'Grow Your Own Organic Saffron'. Booking is not required, so just come along between 11am and 5pm and create your own planter. When we started English Petal & Herb in 2017, we wanted to create a company that enables us to give something back to those in the community that are either elderly, vulnerable, lonely or may not have the opportunity the receive or grow flowers. As the saying goes - "say it with flowers"! Our popular wreath making workshops are now available to book on our booking page. We now have our new workshop based in Great Staughton where we will work with up to 8 people to create beautiful wreaths to display over the Christmas period. Dates and places are limited, so don't miss out. Each workshop will provide everything you need to create a Christmas wreath.
